1. Unlike information, knowledge is always local, woven together with where we learn it and where we learn to use it. Yet knowledge does not exist in a vacuum. It requires other people, to teach us, to value what we do, and to join with us in community -- in a context where information that has become knowledge can then be turned into wisdom.
